David Broza has had a lifelong mission of studying the works of a wide variety of poets and other writers, haunting libraries and bookstores, "always reading with a melody in my head" he declares.
From his first Hebrew album, David Broza has collaborated with Israeli poet, playwright and journalist Yehonatan Geffen in translating Spanish poetry into the Hebrew language.
David Broza's American albums combine the poems of contemporary poets and songwriters like Liam Rector, David Saint John, Alberto Rios, Wyn Cooper (lyricist for Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do"), and Mathew Graham. His songs also showcase the classic works of Shelley, Whitman, Elizabeth Bishop and many more.
Federico Garcia Lorca, Spain's poet and playwright who was assassinated during the Spanish Civil War, has also played an important influential role on David's music. Upon the 50th anniversary of Lorca's death, David Broza was invited to represent Israel on a tribute album released by CBS Spain. Titled "Poets in New York", this album featured important international artists, including Leonard Cohen, Donovan, Paco de Lucia and Theodorakis.
David Broza lectures and performs in colleges and universities all over the world, and he was appointed Artist-in-Residence at Bennington College, where he conducts writing seminars on poetry and song.
